On Aug. 27, 2008, Shizue Ikeda passed away at the age of 99 at Ume no Ki Gardens, where she had been residing for the past six months. She was an active member of the San Mateo Buddhist Women’s Association for over 50 years and participated in many activities; enjoyed flower arranging, gardening, traveling and trips to the casinos.

She was the loving wife of Sanaye Ikeda, who predeceased her; the mother of June (Tsukasa) Matsueda and Lucy Hamai; grandmother of Bob Matsueda, Julie Osaki, Steven Hamai, Akemi Hamai and Paul Hamai; great-grandmother of Ken Matsueda, Mika Osaki, Maya Haruyama, Lee Osaki and Anna Hamai; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Funeral/memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the San Mateo Buddhist Temple, 2 S. Claremont St., San Mateo, CA 94401.
