SomArts Cultural Center, 934 Brannan St. (between 8th and 9th streets) in San Francisco, is presenting “Conversations with the Brush: Three Women Artists” in its Main Gallery until Wednesday, Aug. 27.

This exhibition features paintings and monoprints by Joan Miro and Reiko Muranaga of San Francisco and Yumiko Oda of Hiroshima. The three artists work in very different styles and media, but their works speak across the expanse of the Pacific Ocean, engaging in universal themes.

Their imagery is figurative and abstract, including the human, the avian, trees, sea and sky. All three artists use the brush, particularly the sumi-e (ink painting) brush, to arrive at their distinctive images.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m.

For more information, call Betsie Miller-Kusz at (415) 552-2131, ext. 7. To see videos about the three artists, visit the following YouTube links:
