Language School Open for Enrollment

FRESNO — The Fresno Betsuin Japanese Language and Cultural School is open for enrollment for the 2008-09 year.

Children 5 and older as well as adults will learn basic conversation, vocabulary and culture. Students also learn to read and write hiragana and katakana.

The cultural component includes music, crafts, storytelling, calligraphy, dancing, and related guest speakers and field trips.

Two beginning, intermediate and advanced classes are held in the lower classrooms of Fresno Betsuin Church at 1340 Kern St. Except for major holidays, classes are offered from September to June on Saturday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. Registration and classes will begin on Sept. 6.

"We have classes for everyone's age and level. We invite you to come sit in on a class before you join us," said a school spokesperson.
