Singer/songwriters Goh Nakamura and Jane Lui will perform on Tuesday, June 30, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Cafe Du Nord, 2174 Market St., San Francisco.

Nakamura is a Bay Area-based musician who writes ditties about parking tickets, impossible crushes and faraway dreamlands. With one foot in the traditional troubadour world and another in the digital age, he performs at venues small, large, and virtual, to an enthusiastic and ever-growing audience.

A fortuitous 2007 feature on YouTube's front page brought his music videos over a million views and earned him a huge new fan base from all over the world.

Nakamura's talents have also found a home in the film industry. His vocals and guitar work are featured prominently on the scores to Ridley Scott's films "A Good Year" and "American Gangster." His song "Daylight Savings" is included on the soundtrack to the Robert Benton film "Feast of Love," starring Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear.

Following a March 2008 reissue of his first album, "Daylight Savings," Nakamura released his new album, "Ulysses," in August 2008.

His works can be found on YouTube, MySpace, and Facebook.

Lui’s self-produced full-length debut album, "Teargirl," is a collection of songs with catchy melodies, dissonance, and lush production with no digital editing.

"Barkentine," her follow-up album, was recorded with a mobile studio and mini-disc in classrooms, churches, recital halls, houses, and 19th-century sailing ships. With sea shanties, choirs, bells, and so much vibe, she plays 14 instruments in addition to writing her own choir and string arrangements.

She has toured both U.S. coasts, Canada, Sydney and London.

Sony featured two of her songs in its wireless gadget (MYLO ’06, MYLO 2 ’08). She was recently awarded first place at the talent competition “Kollaboration Acoustic” (Ford Amphitheatre), and first runner-up at "Kollaboration IX" (Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles).

Both solo records are available on iTunes and most distribution sites.

She is currently writing a third album, scheduled for spring 2010 release. For more information, visit www.janelui.com.
