SACRAMENTO — Sake, sushi and sashimi will be found at the 2009 Northern California Premium Sake Fest on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento, 1230 J St.

Try the best of what sake masters have to offer, enjoy the sushi creations of local restaurants, and watch in amazement as a local sushi chef carves a 200-plus-pound tuna for sashimi. There will be a “Fast and Furious” nigiri sushi making contest, a blind sake tasting contest, taiko drums, and more.

Representatives of the leading sake manufacturers of Japan will be on hand at the Northern California Premium Sake Fest to answer questions. Sample a variety of premium sake and shochu (a distilled equivalent of sake), new Japanese beer along with foods prepared by a number of local Japanese restaurants.

For reservations, call Judy at (916) 373-1111, ext. 120 or e-mail Judy@nafdc.com.

Additional information and order forms are available at www.nafdc.com. Advance tickets (purchase by Sept. 28) are $55. Tickets sold at the door are $65. You must be 21 years of age or older to attend.

Proceeds will benefit the UC Davis Children’s Hospital Pediatric Heart Center as well as the Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation, and other local non-profit organizations. A limited number of commemorative tasting cups will be given to attendees.

North American Food Distributing Company Inc. is presenting this sake fest along with
event sponsors Sacramento Magazine and Takara Sake USA.
