Knitting for Others, an afternoon gathering of needle workers, takes place Sunday, July 20, at 1 p.m. at Pine United Methodist Church, 426 33rd Ave. in San Francisco’s Richmond District.

The group is currently working on afghans to donate to those in need. All are invited. Yarn, patterns, instructions (including lessons for beginners) and light refreshments will be provided.

SAN MATEO — San Mateo Buddhist Temple will hold its annual bazaar on Saturday, June 28, from 4 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, June 29, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The temple is located at 2 S. Claremont St. between 1st Avenue and Cypress Avenue.

The bazaar will feature food, games for kids, bingo, a silent auction, prizes, a plant sale, and a book fair presented by San Mateo-based Asian American Curriculum Project.

BERKELEY — A celebration of the life of Mary Irene Bonzo Suzuki, who passed away on May 11 at the age of 76, will be held on Sunday, June 22, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Berkeley Friends Church, 1600 Sacramento St. (at Cedar) in Berkeley.

Those who attend may bring finger food to share, copies of photos, and short written remembrances for the family’s memory board/book.

Christ Episcopal Church (Sei Ko Kai) is having its 10th annual Summer Frolic, a fundraising music festival, on Sunday, June 22, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Pine United Methodist Church, 426 33rd Ave. (between Clement and Geary) in San Francisco.

The event will feature accomplished pianist Kana Mimaki, who will play Chopin’s “Fantasie Impromptu” and Liszt’s “Campanella.” Her recent achievements include winning first prize awards in the Los Angeles Liszt Competition, the International Russian Music Competition, and the Catania International Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto Competition.

Pine United Methodist Church, located at 426 33rd Ave. between Clement and Geary in San Francisco, will host its 41st annual Chicken Teriyaki Bazaar on Sunday, June 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Chicken teriyaki bento boxes will be sold for $9. Other food items available for purchase will include manju, udon, hamburgers, hot dogs and chirashi sushi.

Launched in 1967, the bazaar was the brainchild of Pine UMC member Gus Toba. Every year, thousands of people flock to the church for its famous chicken teriyaki.
