Bougainvillea Workshop

OAKLAND — The Golden State Bonsai Federation Collection North will offer a bougainvillea workshop on Sunday, Aug. 24, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Participants will make small bougainvillea bonsai plants or start them from one-gallon nursery stock. A bougainvillea will be provided for $8 or you can bring your own.

The collection is located in Oakland’s Lakeside Park, 650 Bellvue Ave., past the Garden Center on the left and approximately opposite the boat house on Lake Merritt. Directions may be found online at: http://web.mac.com/ltferzoco/iWeb/GSBF/Directions.html.

GSBF Collection North, is Northern California’s only public bonsai collection, ensures that trees and stones by outstanding masters and collectors will be preserved for everyone’s enjoyment. The chairman is Seiji Shiba. Curator Kathy Shaner is the only Japanese-certified bonsai master in the U.S.
