Cross-Cultural Dance Performance
Posted inAsian American Dance Performances' collaborative project "Of Spirits Intertwined" is featured in ODC's annual "House Special" on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 8 p.m. at Project Artaud Theater, 450 Florida St. in San Francisco.
"For one night only, beautiful, ancient Asian forms will co-mingle with cutting-edge European multi-media work and the wild antics of our own resident drag queen," said an ODC spokesperson.
Classical practitioner Charya Burt, with dancers Vishnu Tattva Das and Melody Takata, will present their cross-cultural work-in-progress “Of Spirits Intertwined,” which dynamically explores and bridges the rituals that underlie the Cambodian, Indian and Japanese traditions, and opens a discourse redefining the context of contemporary dance.
The evening's program will also include Monique Jenkinson, a multifaceted artist working in the realms of dance, theatre, drag and performance art, and Rabbit Research, an emerging dance theater duo from France.
Admission is $15, which includes a post-show reception. For more information, call (415) 863-9834 or visit www.odctheater.org.
