Last March, the Kimochi Home/Eagle Scout Bench Project was initiated by Michael Quan, a Troop 29 Eagle Scout from San Francisco Buddhist Church.
He was assisted by other members of Troop 29.
Quan raised funds to cover the cost of the materials for three wooden benches and placed brass placards on the benches in memory of Jean Haruko Tsuchiya, a long-time supporter of Kimochi.
The benches are on the back patio at Kimochi Home, a residential/day care/respite facility in San Francisco’s Japantown.
Those donating in memory of Tsuchiya included Dennis Tsuchiya, Satoru and Carolyn Hosoda, Mr. and Mrs. Sim Seiki, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tanabe, and Mr. and Mrs. Kaz Takasuka. Other donors were Douglas and Megumi Inouye, Mary Eijima and Robert Kawano, Cathy Arima, Michael K. Wong, and Kate Ikeda.
The total donations came to $1,300. Kimochi is very appreciative of this Eagle Scout project and the generosity of the community donors.
